Data-Driven Insights to Strengthen Judicial Committee Under Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City

This article examines the role of Judicial Committees in Nepal’s decentralized governance structure, focusing on their contribution to enhancing access to justice at the local level. Through a data-driven analysis of the Judicial Committee in Butwal Sub Metropolitan City, it highlights how these committees have strengthened public trust by providing timely, cost-effective, and community-based dispute resolution. The growing reliance on alternative dispute resolution(ADR) mechanisms facilitated by Judicial Committees has reduced the burden on formal courts, fostered social harmony, and provided timely justice close to people’s homes. The article emphasizes the potential of Judicial Committees to serve as a model for participatory justice, promoting legal empowerment and reinforcing democracy at the local level.
